TTOC Coffee Food Safety & Hygiene Guidelines

Typhoid Vaccination & Health Screening

At TTOC Coffee, we are committed to the highest standards of food safety and hygiene. We comply with all Malaysian health regulations and implement best practices to ensure every cup we serve is safe and of top quality. Below are our key safety guidelines, which align with Ministry of Health (MOH) requirements and industry standards.

  • Mandatory Typhoid Vaccinations: All TTOC Coffee baristas and food handlers receive an anti-typhoid vaccination as required by Malaysian law. We ensure vaccinations are kept up to date with booster shots every three years. Each staff member holds a valid typhoid vaccination certificate as proof of immunization, which can be presented to authorities on request.
  • Regular Medical Check-ups: Our food handling staff undergo regular medical examinations to ensure they are free from any contagious or food-borne illnesses. In accordance with MOH guidelines, any team member who shows symptoms of a food-borne disease is not allowed to handle food or drinks and is suspended from work until fully recovered and medically certified fit. We take no risks when it comes to health – employees must report any illness, and only return to duty once they are cleared by a doctor.
  •

Personal Hygiene Standards for Staff

  • Clean Uniforms & Attire: TTOC Coffee enforces strict personal hygiene and dress codes. All staff wear clean, suitable uniforms including light-colored aprons, head coverings (like hairnets or caps), and proper closed-toe footwear when handling food or drinks. This dedicated attire is used only during food service to prevent outside contaminants from entering the preparation area. (For example, team members remove their apron and cap before using the restroom to avoid any cross-contamination.
  • No Jewelry or Loose Accessories: Our baristas do not wear hand jewelry, watches, pins or any accessories while preparing food and beverages. This rule prevents bacteria buildup on jewelry and avoids any physical contaminants (like a loose earring or hairpin) from accidentally falling into food. Long hair is tied back or covered, and we maintain short, clean nails for all food handlers.
  • Frequent and Proper Handwashing: We emphasize a “clean hands” policy at all times. Staff are required to wash their hands thoroughly with soap and water before starting work, before handling any ready-to-eat ingredient, after using the toilet, and whenever hands could have become contaminated. Proper handwashing techniques (at least 20 seconds with soap, including between fingers) are reinforced. Hand sanitizers are provided at all work stations as an additional measure, but never as a substitute for soap-and-water handwashing. This rigorous hand hygiene practice greatly reduces the risk of spreading germs.

Safe Practices at Events & Catering

  • Proper Facilities on the Go: When we cater at fairs, corporate functions, or any off-site event, we bring the same level of hygiene as in our café. Our mobile coffee carts are equipped with essential facilities such as handwashing stations (with water, soap, and paper towels), waste bins with covers, and insulated coolers for perishable ingredients. We ensure adequate waste disposal and keep our station tidy to prevent any pest attraction, no matter the location.
  • Compliance with Event Regulations: We strictly follow all health regulations set by local authorities and event organizers for temporary food premises. According to MOH’s Food Safety & Quality Programme guidelines, event stall operators must maintain high cleanliness and hygiene standards. TTOC Coffee fully abides by these standards: we make sure our personal hygiene, equipment, and serving practices at events are just as stringent as in our permanent location. We obtain any required temporary permits and undergo inspections whenever necessary, so hosts and customers can be confident in our safety compliance.
  • Trained & Prepared Staff: Our event team is briefed on venue-specific safety (such as fire safety or crowd management) in addition to food hygiene. They set up and operate in a way that keeps food safe – for example, ensuring refrigerators or coolers stay powered, keeping hot items at safe temperatures, and protecting foods/beverages from environmental contamination (dust, rain, etc.). We come prepared with gloves, extra cleaning cloths, and sanitizers on hand. By anticipating the challenges of outdoor or mobile environments, we maintain control over food safety at all times.
  • Consistent Monitoring: Even during the rush of an event, our supervisors conduct quick hygiene checks: verifying that temperatures are right, surfaces remain clean, and staff continue to follow protocols. We believe that food safety is a continuous process. Any issue (like a spilled drink or a utensil that drops on the ground) is addressed immediately — the area is cleaned and the item replaced or re-sanitized. This vigilance ensures that even in a busy event setting, we never compromise on the safety and quality of our coffee.

Our goal is to craft unforgettable moments through specialty coffee experiences at your event, delivered with heart, style, and purpose.
